The Near North Mobile Media Lab is dedicated to fostering the growth of media based artists in the North. We offer affordable workshops in the many fields of production led by industy experienced instructors.

DESCIPRTION OF WORKSHOPS:

SUMMER WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS/TEENS

SPEED DOC

Speed Doc is a week long workshop where participants
create a short 3-5 minute documentary on one of the
following subjects:

*Art
*Biography
*Political/Social/Environmental
*Canadiana
*Experimental

Speed Doc is a component of the upcoming documentary
film festival Doc North and participants will get a chance
to showcase their work at the festival in February 2011.

Participants will go from story development, pre
production, camera and sound operation to post
production in one week. At the end of the workshop,
students will take home a DVD copy of their finished work.

Adult $150
Youth $140

GRANT WRITING WORKSHOPS IN MAY

GRANT WRITING WORKSHOPS

Grant Writing workshops will focus on three major Arts based granting bodies: The Ontario Arts Council, The Canada Council for the Arts, and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund. Each session is $15 or $50 for all 4. Contact the lab to reserve your spot, workshops fill up fast!

Our popular week long animation camp is back! Master hands on stop motion techniques using clay, paper, recycled materials and anything else you can think of! Work with an experienced
animator from storyboard to editing room and go home with your
very own movie on DVD!This week long workshop is open to
kids ages 8-12. Space is limited and spots fill up fast, so sign up today!

FILMMAKING BOOTCAMP FOR KIDS

Calling all James Camerons in the
making!

The Near North Mobile Media Labs Filmmaking
Bootcamp for Kids ages 10-14 is back for
another year!

This ‘pseudo-military’ style week long
workshop will teach students how to develop
a great idea into a 3-5 minute film. We will work
with your own ideas and concepts and give you
the knowledge to make it a reality!

This workshop is open for youth ages 10-14. Cost per participant is $150.

We are now open extended hours! Tuesdays and Thursdays we are open in the evening until 9pm. We will also begin our Saturday hours in May.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10am-5pm

Tuesday and Thursday 10am-9pm
